U16 A Championship

The U16 A Championship is fixed for this Sunday at 3pm in Kiltoom. Strokestown will play Clan na Gael in what promises to be a great game. Our girls have already defeated favourites St. Bridgets at the semi final stage and have put up fantastic performances the whole way through the championship. The club wishes them the very best of luck and we would hope to have a good turnout to support the girls on the day.

Junior B Final: Saturday 11th October in Ballinameen

The venue has been announced as Ballinameen for the Junior B Championship Final taking place at 5pm tomorrow! Strokestown are playing rivals Shannon Gaels in what promises to be a tough match.

Shannon Gaels are known for their large support and Ballinameen is on their doorstep, so please spread the word and come out and give the girls some worthy support!

Junior B Championship Final - Strokestown v Shannon Gaels

Strokestown Junior ladies are to face Shannon Gaels in the Championship final, this Saturday 11th October at 5pm. The venue is to be confirmed.

The girls defeated Shannon Gaels earlier this year in the league final, however were defeated by them in the group stages of the championship so a tough battle is expected!

Junior B Championship Semi Final - Strokestown v St.Barrys 05/10/08

Congrats to our Junior B ladies who are now through to the Championship final. The girls will play Shannon Gaels in the final on Saturday 11th October - venue to be confirmed.

The girls defeated St. Barrys in a very tough match on Sunday last which saw St. Barrys ahead for a lot of the first half. The girls rallied enough to pull off a 6 point win at full time. U16 A Championship - Strokestown v St Bridgets 03/10/08

Well done to our U16 team who have qualified for the final of the A Championship. They continued their unbeaten run by defeating a fancied St Brigids 6.06 to 1.03 in the semi-final on Friday evening last, and will play Clan na Gael in the final on Saturday next, time and venue to be confirmed. U12 B Championship - Strokestown v Boyle 1/10/08

Our U12s lost their semi final on Wednesday evening,after a great effort they went down on a score line of Boyle 3-4 Strokestown 1-4Scorers Kirsty mc Kay 1-0,Ashling Hanley 0-2,Trion Kelly 0-2.Thank all players for their efforts throughout the year. A great effort considering it was half the teams first time to play. Thank all parents and supporters who helped out during the year.

Our Under 12s were beaten by a physically stronger St Bridget's side in their semi final on Wednesday evening last. The score was Bridget's 2-10 Strokestown 2-4, scorers Ashling Hanley 2-4 and Triona Kelly 0-1. The girls put up an exceptional battle and never stopped trying until the final whistle. They now play Boyle in the B semi final on Wednesday evening.

Junior B Championship - Strokestown v St.Faithleachs 27/09/08

The Junior ladies defeated a strong St. Faithleachs side on Saturday last in their last group game of the Championship. Final Score 4.17 to 1.2. The girls will play St. Barrys this Sunday in the Championship Semi Final. Our Under 16s held on to their unbeaten record with a great defeat over St. Dominics in the A Championship quarter final. Final Score 8.19 to 1.1. Strokestown Scorers; Sarah Brudell 2.4, Laura Brudell 0.8, Eva McDermott 2.1, Bronagh McHugh 1.3, Aisling McAuliffe 2.0, Ellen Beirne 1.0, C Mullooly 0.1, Judy McDermott 0.1 & Shauna 0.1. U12 Championship - Strokestown V Kilglass Gaels 17/09/08

U12s beat killglass on wednesday evening after an even 1st half they ran out comfortable winners on a score line of 1-14 to 0-4,scorers on the evening were kirsty mc kay 1-2, tiona kelly 0-4, ashling hanley 0-5 and sophia green 0-1 ,they are now through to the division 1 quarter final on wednesday evening.

Junior B Championship - Strokestown v Shannon Gaels 07/09/08

Our Junior team suffered their first defeat of 2008 on Sunday. A better Shannon Gaels performance on the day left the final scoreline at 1.7 to 9 points. Our final game of the league stage of the Championship takes place this Sunday against St. Faithleachs, however we are through to the semi finals already. The weekends loss pushes us to 2nd place in the table but the tough game should stand to us heading in to the knock out stages of the championship.

U12s up to 08/09/08

The u12s had 3 matches this week and are improving with every match. On Monday they played a very strong Boyle team and after a great performance lost on a scoreline of boyle 2-7 strokestown 2-5, scorers were ashling hanley 2-1,triona kelly 0-2 and elanor hanley 0-2. On wednesday evening they had their 1st victory when defeating western gales in a tight match on a scorline of strokestown 1-6 western gales 0-6.scorers ashling hanley 0-3 and Eleanor hanley 1-3.then on saturday they defeated st barrys on a scoreline of strokestown 3-8 st barrys 1-1. scorers kirsty mc kay 0-2, ashling hanley 1-6 and elanor hanley 2-0.The whole team is playing great football with some exceptional performances throughout the team. U12 Championship: Strokestown v Eire Og 21/08/08

Our u12's had their first league match on Thursday last against Eire Og in Loughlynn. With an under strength team we were 3-4 to 1-0 down at half time but a vastly improved second half performance saw a final score line of Eire Og 4-4 Strokestown 3-4. This was the first competitive match for some of our younger players and saw great performances from Clare Brogan,Caithlin Flanagan,Caroline Beirne, Shauna Mullen, Rebecca Lee and Mikella O Rourke in their 1st match. Scorers Ashling Hanley 1-1, Jill Mullolly 2-0, Triona Kelly 0-2 and Elanor Hanley 0-1.

U16 Championship: Strokestown v St. Ciarans

The U16s beat St. Ciarans convincingly last Tuesday, continuing their impressive Championship campaign with strong wins in all their games so far. Final Score Strokestown 8.19 to St. Ciarans no score.

The girls have a bye next week and will play Elphin the following week.

Strokestown U 16s made it 2 out of 2 in the championship beating Clann na Gael with an impressive scoreline of 6 goals & 12 points to no score.

Our Junior Ladies defeated St. Marys in the 2nd fixture of the Junior B Championship on Sunday last. Both teams started well however Strokestown pulled away quickly with goals early in the first half from Niamh Mc Hugh and Morgan Carlos. Final score 4.19 to 0.2. Scorers; Niamh Mc Hugh 3.7, Laura Brudell 0.5, Morgan Carlos 1.1, Edwina Nelson 0.3, Ciara Hanley 0.1, Catherine Hagan 0.1 and Katie McLoughlin 0.1.

The next championship game is versus St. Dominics on August 4th. Training continues Wednesday at 7pm.

Division 3 Ladies Football League Final - Strokestown v Shannon Gaels

Congratulations to Strokestown Junior ladies for an impressive victory over Shannon Gaels on Sunday last.
Strokestown started the strongest in the first half getting the 1st two scores onboard and were in control until Shannon Gaels went down the pitch and scored a well worked goal. Strokestown responded in the only way that they know and scored a finely worked goal themselves to keep the 2 point margin between the teams. The scores stayed much the same until half time when strokestown scored six points without reply to state their intent on this fine game of football.

At this stage Shannon Gaels never gave up and kept the fight up to Strokestown until a well worked goal that started in Strokestowns half back line ended up in Shannon Gaels net to finish off a great game of football and a well deserved victory for Strokestown.

Junior Winter League: Strokestown v St.Croans 3/05/08

The Junior team defeated St Croans 2-16 to 4 points on Saturday evening in the Winter League. They are now top of the league going into the semi finals after winning all their matches. Our highest turnout of players yet with 25 togging on the day. The league semi finals are due to take place next weekend.

After a close first half (1-2 to 1-1) the Strokestown Ladies U14s went on to beat Padraig Pearses 2-13 to 1-2 with an excellent second half performance. Junior Winter League: Strokestown v St. Barrys 27/04/08

The Junior team defeated St Barrys on Sunday last to ensure a place in the league semi finals. Final score 3.12 to 3.4. A great turnout of 23 players put up a fantastic team performance. Our final league game before the semis takes place this Saturday at 7.30pm away against St. Croans.

Congratulations to our U14s who have qualified for the quarter finals of the Championship! In a tough encounter on Wednesday evening last they beat kilglass gales 3-5 to 0-2. Scorers of the evening were Judy mc dermott 0-2, ashling mac auliffe 2-2. bronagh mc hugh 0-1, colleen cosgrove 1-0.

They continued their winning streak on sunday defeating Eire og 8-10 to 3-2. Scorers: ashling mac auliffe 2-6 , judy mc dermott 2-2. bronagh mc hugh 1-1. triona kelly 1-1. ashling hanley 1-0. kirsty mc kay 1-0 .

Junior Winter League- Strokestown v Shannon Gaels 20/04/08

After a slow start the Junior ladies came from a point down at the end of a closely fought first half against Shannon Gaels to an emphatic victory with the final score Strokestown 4-8 to Shannon Gaels 8 points on Sunday.

A perfect record in the league so far of 4 out of 4 for Strokestown but we still have two tough games to play against St. Barrys next weekend and St. Croans the following (this Fridays game has been re scheduled again).

Junior Winter League: Strokestown v St. Dominics 30/03/08

Congratulations to our Junior team who displayed a fine performance in defeating a galant St. Dominics team 3-19 to 1-1 last Sunday. The game was played in a good spirit in very windy conditions. This was our second victory in two winter league games. A great turnout of 24 players togged on the day and the victory was down to a great team performance once again.
